Data Recovery

Drive failed, corrupted, or won't boot — we recover what we can

Home › Data Recovery

If a drive has already failed — clicking, not detected, corrupted, or the computer won't boot — recovery is a different job from backup: it's about pulling data off a drive that's already in trouble, as carefully as possible so we don't make things worse.

We assess the drive first and give you an honest read on what's recoverable before doing any paid work. Success depends heavily on the type and severity of the failure — a logical fault (corrupted file system, accidental deletion) recovers far more often than a physical or mechanical failure, but we won't know for certain until we look.

What's included: Drive assessment and diagnosis, recovery attempt from PC or Mac drives (internal or external, HDD or SSD), and — once your data is safe — advice on backup so it doesn't happen again.
Signs you need data recovery, not just repair
  • Drive makes clicking, grinding, or beeping noises
  • Computer won't boot past a black screen or error message
  • Drive isn't detected at all by the computer
  • Files or folders suddenly missing or corrupted
  • Accidental deletion or formatting
  • Drive was dropped, exposed to liquid, or physically damaged
What to do right now: Stop using the drive immediately — continued use on a failing drive is the most common way recovery odds get worse. Don't run "repair" tools on it yourself; bring it to us first.

FAQ

Common questions

Is data recovery always possible?
Not always, but often — it depends on the type and severity of the failure. Logical failures (corruption, accidental deletion) recover more often than physical or mechanical failures. We assess first and give you an honest answer before charging for anything.
How much does data recovery cost?
Diagnostics start at 300 kr incl. VAT (standard, 2–4 days) or 600 kr incl. VAT (express, 1–2 hours). Recovery work itself is quoted after assessment, once we know what we're dealing with.
Do you recover data from both PC and Mac drives?
Yes — internal and external drives, HDD and SSD, for both PC and Mac.
What's the difference between this and your Data Backup & Recovery page?
This page is specifically about recovering data from a drive that has already failed. Our Data Backup & Recovery service also covers setting up backup so you're protected before anything goes wrong — worth doing once your current data is safe.
Should I keep trying to turn the drive on myself?
No — stop using it immediately. Repeated power-on attempts and DIY "repair" software are the most common causes of a recoverable drive becoming unrecoverable.
Can you recover data from a drive that was dropped or got wet?
Often yes, though physical damage lowers the odds compared to a purely logical failure. Bring it in without attempting to dry it out or power it on — we'll assess.
